Graduands are welcome to rent the full set of academic dress from the University’s designated supplier, Victoria Uniform (VU) (維多利校服公司). You are advised to refer to the Subject Discipline Hood Colour of your programme/hood.

Details of Rental of Academic Dress

1. To rent academic dress, you MUST perform ONLINE REGISTRATION via the website of VU, on or before 26 January 2025 for reservation. The academic dress collection period is from 1 August 2024 to 27 January 2025 (both dates inclusive).　Please refer to the website of VU for details and some important information is listed below for easy reference:

2. Graduands MUST read carefully the following information before making online registration:
   (a) Designated Subject Discipline Hood Colour of your programme posted on this website; and
   (b) Procedures for collection and return of academic dress provided by the supplier on their website (ref: Instructions on Online Gown Rental System)
3. Graduands MUST complete the ONLINE REGISTRATION via the supplier’s website before collection of academic dress from the supplier’s business outlet. Please login with the University Code attached to the letter of “Rental of Academic Dress” issued to you before end of July 2024 or refer to the corresponding University Code listed below:

4. Graduands MUST present the following documents and settle the payment of deposit and rental fee (if applicable) upon collecting academic dress at the designated business outlet of VU:
   (a) The TRUE copy of the Rental Slip* or the Waiver of Rental Fee of Academic Dress Voucher* (applicable to graduands of Master or above Degree programmes (admitted in 2016/17 or before) and Undergraduate (UG) programmes (admitted in 2017/18 or before)) issued by the University;
   (b) The signed ‘Gown Rental & Deposit’ form in dual copies (i.e. one for graduand and one for the supplier) for collection of academic dress. This form is obtained right after completing the online registration through the website of VU (ref: Instructions on Online Gown Rental System); and
   (c) Exact CASH (in HK dollars) payment for the deposit and rental fee (if applicable) of the academic dress.
   (d) Student Identity Card.
   
   *The Rental Slip or Waiver Voucher is enclosed in the “Rental of Academic Dress” letter issued in July 2024. If you have not received the letter by 15 August 2024, please write to the Registry (gc@eduhk.hk) for a make-up arrangement.
5. The full deposit amount will be refunded to graduands provided that the academic dress is returned in proper condition and on or before the return due date. Graduands will be charged for extension fee when the deadline for return of academic dress is over. The extension fee/ penalty charge will be levied and deducted from the deposit amount.

Note:

1. The first rental period is on a 180-day basis that will be counted from the first day of collection of academic dress at the business outlet of VU (e.g. If you collected the academic dress on 1 November 2024, the date of your return of academic dress will be on or before 29 April 2025);
2. Graduands will be required to present the TRUE copy of the Rental Slip with Student Identity Card and pay the deposit and rental fee, whereas those graduands of Master or above Degree programmes (admitted in 2016/17 or before) or UG programmes (admitted in 2017/18 or before) will be required to present the TRUE copy of the Waiver of Rental Fee of Academic Dress Voucher with Student Identity Card for free rental service and pay the deposit when collecting the academic dress. Otherwise, you will need to make other arrangements with VU and/or not be allowed to collect the academic dress;
3. The extended rental period is counted on the basis of 7 days (i.e. If the actual extension is less than 7 days, the extension fee will still be charged for 7 days);
4. Extension/damage fees, if any, will be deducted from the deposit amount;
5. If you so wished, you may purchase the academic dress directly with the University’s designated supplier, Victoria Uniform (VU). For any queries about the procurement of academic dress from VU, please also contact them directly; and
6. The locations of business outlets are specified in the online order form upon completion of online registration via the website of VU. The supplier strongly advises graduands to collect their academic dress on the day indicated during the online registration to avoid a longer queue-up time.
