Graduates are welcome to rent the full set of academic dress from the University’s designated supplier, Tick Your Gown Limited (TYG). You are advised to refer to the Subject Discipline Hood Colour for the hood colour of your programme.
Details of Rental of Academic Dress
- To rent academic dress, you MUST perform ONLINE REGISTRATION via the TYG’s website on or before 26 January 2027 to make a reservation. The academic dress collection period is from 1 August 2026 to 27 January 2027 (except for Doctor of Education, Doctor of Philosophy & Master of Philosophy, the rental period of which will start from 17 August 2026). Please refer to the TYG’s website for details. Some important information is also listed below for easy reference:

- Graduates MUST read carefully the following information before making online registration:
(a) Designated Subject Discipline Hood Colour of your programme posted on this website; and
(b) Procedures for collection and return of academic dress provided by the supplier on their website - Graduates MUST complete the ONLINE REGISTRATION via the TYG’s website before collection of academic dress from the supplier’s business outlet.
- Graduates MUST present the following documents and settle the payment of deposit and rental fee upon collecting academic dress at the designated business outlet of TYG:
(a) The ‘Gown Rental Confirmation email’ upon completing the online gown collection registration through TYG’s website, and
(b) EdUHK Student Identity Card, and
(c) Gown information sheet (GIS)** which will be sent to you through email before end of July 2026, and
(d) Exact payment for the deposit and rental fee of the academic dress in Hong Kong dollars.
** If you do not receive the GIS by email on or before 21 August 2026, please write to the Registry (gc@eduhk.hk) for enquiry. - The full deposit amount will be refunded to graduates provided that the academic dress is returned in proper condition and on or before the return due date. Graduates will be charged an extension fee when the deadline for the return of academic dress has passed. The extension fee/ penalty charge will be levied and deducted from the deposit amount.

Note:
- The first rental period is on a 180-day basis that will be counted from the first day you collect the academic dress at the business outlet of TYG (e.g. If you collect the academic dress on 1 November 2026, the date you must return the academic dress will be on or before 29 April 2027);
- Graduates will be required to present (i) the Gown Rental Confirmation email, (ii) Gown Information Sheet (GIS), (iii) their Student Identity Card and pay the deposit and rental fee#. Otherwise, you will need to make other arrangements with TYG and/or not be allowed to collect the academic dress;
- The extended rental period is counted on the basis of 7 days (i.e. If the actual extension is less than 7 days, the extension fee will still be charged for 7 days);
- Extension/damage fees, if any, will be deducted from the deposit amount;
- If you so wished, you may purchase the academic dress directly with the University’s designated supplier, Tick Your Gown (TYG). For any queries about the procurement of academic dress from TYG, please also contact them directly; and
- The locations of business outlets are specified in the online registration form on the TYG’s website. The supplier strongly advises Graduates to collect their academic dress on the day indicated during the online registration to avoid a longer queue-up time.
# Graduates of master or above degree programmes admitted in 2016/17 or before and graduates of undergraduate programmes admitted in 2017/18 or before will be required to present the TRUE copy of the Waiver of Rental Fee of Academic Dress Voucher with their Student Identity Card for free rental service and pay the deposit when collecting the academic dress. The TRUE copy of Waiver of Rental Fee of Academic Dress Voucher will be sent to these graduates by post in early August 2026.
